New York – December 21, 2021: Crain’s New York Business named Crowell & Moring partners Sarah Gilbert & Jennifer Grady to its annual Notable Women in Law feature.  Nominees are assessed for exceptional professional achievements, pro bono work or involvement in community organizations, and demonstrated leadership.

Washington – December 15, 2021: Global Competition Review once again recognized Crowell & Moring’s Antitrust & Competition Group in its annual “GCR 100” – the leading ranking of the world’s competition policy law and economics practices. This year marks the 22nd edition of the awards and the 15th consecutive year that the Antitrust & Competition Group has been recognized.

Los Angeles, CA – December 14, 2021: Harley-Davidson, Inc. and AEA Bridges Impact Corp. (ABIC), a special purpose acquisition company with a dedicated sustainability focus, announced on December 12 that they have entered into a definitive business combination agreement under which ABIC will combine with LiveWire, Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle division, to create a new publicly traded company. Crowell & Moring advised Kymco Capital and Kwang Yang Motor Co. Ltd. (KYMCO) in its strategic investment in LiveWire.

Orange County – December 8, 2021: The Orange County Coalition for Diversity in the Law (OCCDL) has named Crowell & Moring’s Orange County Office as a 2021 “Top Diverse Legal Organization for DEI in OC” and named Eric Fanchiang and Matthew Troncali to its list of 2021 “Top Young Diverse Lawyers in OC.” The coalition honors legal organizations and young diverse attorneys who provide excellent legal services and work to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Orange County community.

San Francisco – December 6, 2021: Crowell & Moring represented BayWa Venture GmbH, the investment and collaboration arm of BayWa AG (BYW:Xetra) in its investment in the Israeli start-up YoFix Probiotics’ $3.5 million second financing round.  YoFix Probiotics produces alternatives to milk and dairy products such as yogurt and porridge, using oats, lentils, sunflower seeds, sesame and coconut in place of milk.  YoFix Probiotics is BayWa Venture’s third investment in the field of alternative proteins so far this year.  The transaction was led by senior counsel Mark Kass (Washington) with support from partner Jon O’Connell (San Francisco) and counsel Matt Pelnar (San Francisco).

London—December 6, 2021:  Crowell & Moring is expanding its financial services capabilities in London with the arrival of a highly-regarded derivatives team. The team is recognized for their deep experience advising global investment banks and private equity funds on a range of complex structured finance and derivatives transactions in the U.S., UK, and European markets.

Washington – December 3, 2021: The Washington Council of Lawyers presented Crowell & Moring public service partner Susan M. Hoffman with the Presidents Award for Public Service at a ceremony on December 2, 2021. The award recognizes Hoffman’s dedication to public service and pro bono causes over the past three decades.

Washington – December 2, 2021: Crowell & Moring has been named a finalist for the 2021 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards in the “Innovation in Racial Justice” category for its efforts in “effecting change in the legal industry to combat racial injustice and inequity.”

New York – December 2, 2021: Lawyers Alliance for New York honored Preetha Chakrabarti with its 2021 Cornerstone Award. This award singles out individuals who have provided “superior legal services to nonprofit organizations that are improving quality of life for low-income New Yorkers.” 

Washington, D.C.— December 1, 2021: A recent survey of top decision-makers by Crowell & Moring finds that nearly 80% of responding companies have identified and adopted environmental performance goals beyond what regulations require. Fewer than half of those surveyed measure their company’s performance against those goals—and in some cases are experiencing challenges implementing them.

San Francisco—November 30, 2021: Crowell & Moring represented Ohayo Valley Inc. in a $1.5 million Pre-Seed financing led by Agronomics Limited (LSE:ANIC). Ohayo Valley was founded in 2020 by Dr. Jess Krieger, and the team brings 20 years of experience in the cultivated meat sector.  Ohayo Valley is initially focused on blending plant-based meat and cultivated meat to develop cultivated Wagyu ribeye steaks, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions associated with traditional beef production.  Agronomics is a leading venture capital company focused on opportunities within cellular agriculture.  The transaction was led by partner Jon O'Connell (San Francisco) with support from partner Anne Li (New York), counsel Matt Pelnar (San Francisco), and paralegal Nate Gagnon (San Francisco).

Washington – November 24, 2021: Six members of Crowell & Moring’s International Dispute Resolutions Group will participate in panels in Washington Arbitration Week 2021, a forum on international arbitration for the Washington, D.C. legal community and the international and foreign community connected to it.  

Los Angeles – November 22, 2021: The Daily Journal has named partners Jason C. Murray and Chahira Solh to its 2021 list of “Top Antitrust Lawyers.” The award recognizes the “leading California attorneys specializing in plaintiffs, defense, and government antitrust work.”

Washington – November 15, 2021: The Washington Business Journal recognized Crowell & Moring as one of the region’s most philanthropic law firms for the ninth consecutive year on its Corporate Philanthropy List. The list honors the most “active and inspirational” companies and nonprofits that have made a difference in their communities through financial and volunteer philanthropic work, charitable giving, volunteer hours, and pro bono work.

Washington – November 11, 2021: The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) has nominated the “CBS News 48 Hours” episode, “Crosley Green’s Hard Time,” for a 2021 “Salute to Excellence Award” in the Television – Network – Investigative category. The awards recognize “journalism and communications that best cover and communicate the Black experience or address issues affecting the worldwide Black community.” Crowell & Moring serves as pro bono counsel to Mr. Green, whose story is featured in the program.

Washington – November 10, 2021: Global Investigations Review has named Crowell & Moring’s Investigations and White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement groups to its prestigious GIR 100 list, an annual guide to the world’s leading cross-border investigations practices. Based on extensive research, GIR selects 100 firms from around the world that it deems most able to handle sophisticated cross-border government-led and internal investigations. This is the seventh consecutive year that Crowell & Moring has made the list.

Washington – November 4, 2021: Crowell & Moring ranked nationally in 17 practice areas in the 2022 edition of U.S. News & World Report – Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms.” In addition, the firm was ranked in 30 metropolitan categories.

The DEI Framework is “a listing of law firms that meet or exceed a rising standard for diversity, equity, and inclusion in their firm.”
