New York – December 21, 2021: The Legal Aid Society of New York recognized counsel Preetha Chakrabarti and associate Suzanne Giammalva among the recipients of the 2021 Pro Bono Publico Awards (Manhattan section) for their exceptional service to The Legal Aid Society and its clients.
The Legal Aid Society is built on the belief that no New Yorker should be denied their right to equal justice. Presented annually, the Pro Bono Publico Awards recognize the outstanding work of volunteer lawyers, law firms, and other professionals from every borough who donate their time and talent to provide legal services to low income New Yorkers. Each year, over 3,000 volunteers from the private bar, corporate legal departments, and law schools from across New York City partner with the staff of The Legal Aid Society on behalf of vulnerable New Yorkers. Of those volunteers, only 300 are nominated by Legal Aid staff for special recognition with a Pro Bono Publico award.
