Washington, D.C. – October 8, 2010: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that the District of Columbia Primary Care Association (DCPCA) honored partner Arthur N. Lerner with the "2010 Champion of Change Award." The award recognized Lerner's contributions to Washington, D.C. residents through his generous pro bono legal support of DCPCA's Medical Homes DC program over many years.
As a result of Lerner's contributions, the Medical Homes DC program has achieved success in rebuilding the neglected network of primary care and safety net providers and improving access to high quality primary care in medically underserved neighborhoods. Lerner was recognized at the 2010 Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon, which was held at the Kellogg Conference Center at Gallaudet University on October 7.
As co-chair of Crowell & Moring's Health Care Group and a member of the firm's Antitrust Group, Lerner advises a range of health care and other clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, Federal Employees Health Benefit Program compliance and disputes, Medicare Advantage and ERISA matters, antitrust proceedings with the Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, and other complex regulatory and competition law counseling and litigation matters. Lerner directed the FTC's health care antitrust program from 1982 to 1985. Before that, while at the Commission, he served as attorney advisor to the Chairman of the FTC, assistant to the director of the Bureau of Competition, and as an FTC trial attorney in health care antitrust.
