Every practicing female lawyer has faced her share of awkward, unpleasant, or outright bizarre situations where gender stereotypes and bias were at play.  How you respond to those situations, however, is key in determining professional success.

Join the Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law for an interactive discussion about the real-world, workplace challenges women lawyers face and how you can overcome them to cultivate an executive presence that commands authority and respect.  Our panel of distinguished women, representing different facets of the legal profession, will address common gender bias scenarios—including those drawn for their own experiences—and explore practical strategies that can help you advance your career while staying true to yourself.

Who should attend?

Women attorneys at all stages of their careers are encouraged to attend.  Whether you are a new associate, a mid-career professional juggling office and personal life, or a seasoned pro at the top of her game, we welcome you to join us to share stories and learn new insights.

What can you expect?

This open dialogue provides a forum for accomplished women to share their wisdom and offer perspectives on how to thrive as a female attorney in a traditionally male-dominated profession. There will be networking opportunities before and after the discussion.

Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law

The Coalition is a nonprofit association that first launched in Chicago in 2008 by women lawyers seeking to expand their firms’ women’s initiatives.  Today, the Coalition brings together women lawyers in firms and in companies to advance the initiatives of its members through networking, professional development, and community outreach activities.  Each and every one of their events and CLE programs is free of charge to women attorneys of member firms/companies.  The Coalition has over 100 member law firms and companies in Chicago, and New York is its first expansion chapter.  Over 80 women from over 50 different legal employers assisted in the Steering Committee that launched the Coalition in New York on January 28, 2016.
