Overview

Stefanie Atchinson is a counsel in Crowell & Moring’s Energy Group in the firm’s London office, focusing on the structuring, financing, and delivery of complex infrastructure and renewable energy projects (often on a P3 or project finance basis).

Many of the transactions on which Stefanie has advised have been based on a P3 model and/or have successfully secured project finance debt. She has extensive knowledge of what is needed to make projects bankable, both in terms of government-backed projects and also purely commercial projects.

Stefanie advises on both primary projects and the acquisition and disposal of projects in the secondary market.

  • Advising a contractor on the construction and operation of various solar farm projects in the UK.
  • Advising energy infrastructure funds and developer clients on the delivery and funding of various renewable energy facilities (including RDF-based waste to energy facilities, CHP and biomass installations).
  • Advising a joint venture on the development, finance, and construction of a £250 million waste tyre processing facility.
  • Advising an infrastructure fund and its co-sponsors on the delivery and funding of a £50 million large-scale energy battery storage project (50MW).
  • Advising infrastructure funds and contractors on the funding, construction, and operation of student accommodation projects.
  • Advising on a number of secondary market acquisitions in the housing, student accommodation, street lighting, and education sectors.
  • Advising replacement contractors, project companies, lenders, and investor clients on issues of the day, including COVID-19, post-Grenfell and the Carillion liquidation.
  • Advising government agencies in the Middle East on the development and promotion of P3, including the application of best practice, the establishment of PPP units, and the drafting of standard form documents.
