London – November 1, 2019: Crowell & Moring’s London office launched its chapter of the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) this week with an inaugural breakfast event held under the banner of ‘helping talented women to flourish and achieve their potential.’

Over the past 2 years, our Energy & Infrastructure Team has seen first-hand the impact COVID-19 has had on greenfield infrastructure projects both in the UK and more globally from the US to the Middle East; from impact on cashflows to operational uncertainty in supply chains; from delays in government approvals to Government mandated shutdowns. 

In November 2021 the UK Government’s Environment Bill, an eagerly awaited piece of legislation, finally became law. This highly anticipated piece of legislation will impact both the food and retail sector through numerous measures as outlined below.

Brexit was once the topic of every conversation in the United Kingdom (U.K.), but, overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s not something we hear as much about these days. 

On December 31, 2020, the free movement of workers between the EU and the UK will end because of Brexit. While there is a slight chance that this deadline will be temporarily postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, companies should be prepared for the fact that the UK sponsorship system that now applies to non-EU workers will be extended to nationals recruited from the EU starting January 2021. Brexit, and the ending of the free movement of workers, will have a significant impact on global mobility.
