San Francisco–June 16, 2022: Crowell & Moring’s Emerging Companies & Venture Capital team advised Marshall Wace, a global alternative asset manager, in its investment in Elektrofi’s Series B venture capital financing transaction. The deal, which closed on May 27, marks the latest in a growing number of successful venture investment representations on behalf of Marshall Wace. With this investment, Marshall Wace continues its healthcare crossover fund strategy, which has focused on innovative developers of new biotechnology, medical device applications, and more.

Chicago – June 16, 2022: The Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) has named Crowell & Moring to its 2022 Pro Bono Recognition Roster, which honors law firms and corporations that have made significant commitments and contributions to providing free legal services to economically challenged individuals, families and communities.

Washington – June 15, 2022: Crowell & Moring has been recommended in eight practice areas in the 15th edition of the Legal 500 United States. In addition, partner Daniel R. Forman, co-chair of the firm’s Government Contracts Group, has been named to Legal 500’s “Hall of Fame” for Government Contracts. Antitrust & Competition partner Megan L. Wolf has been named a “Next Generation Partner” for Merger Control. Advertising & Media partners Christopher A. Washington – June 10, 2022: The National Legal Aid & Defender Association recognized Crowell & Moring with its 2022 Beacon of Justice Award for the firm’s efforts to address systematic racial disparities last year. The award was presented at the NLADA Exemplar Awards Gala on June 9 in Washington, D.C.

New York – June 10, 2022: The Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) recognized Crowell & Moring with the Igniting Change Award in honor of the firm’s “tireless work” on behalf of underserved New York City communities. The award was presented at the organization’s annual benefit, “Juntos: Building Without Limits,” which was held on June 9 in New York City.

Washington – June 9, 2022: Crowell & Moring partner Toni Michelle Jackson was elected to the steering committee of the D.C. Bar’s Litigation Community. Her term will begin July 1, 2022.

Brussels – June 8, 2022: Law.com International named Crowell & Moring counsel Evelien Jamaels to its 2022 “Rising Stars: Europe’s Best Up-and Coming Female Lawyers” List. The list recognizes Continental Europe’s 25 future female leaders in law.

Washington – June 1, 2022: Chambers and Partners has ranked 70 Crowell & Moring lawyers in 84 rankings across 40 categories in the Chambers USA 2022 guide. In addition, 37 practice areas were also ranked in the guide. The regional and national rankings are driven by independent interviews of clients and lawyers.

Washington – May 25, 2022: Latinvex has named Ian A. Laird, co-chair of Crowell & Moring’s International Dispute Resolution Group, as one of Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers. The list is developed by Latinvex’ editorial and research staff using data from their annual survey of international law firms, as well as publicly available data. This is the fourth consecutive year Laird has been selected for the list.

London - May 23, 2022: Caroline Stevens, senior talent and business operations director in Crowell & Moring’s London office, was shortlisted as a finalist for Crisis Management by the Women, Influence & Power in Law UK Awards 2022 These awards honor top female lawyers and leaders who have made a real difference in the legal profession this past year - whether in shaping the law, achieving outstanding results for their clients and teams, being an outstanding jurist, or assisting those in need of legal services. The award ceremony took place on May 18 at the Hilton Bankside in London.

Los Angeles – May 19, 2022: Los Angeles Business Journal named Crowell & Moring partners Jason C. Murray and Renée Delphin-Rodriguez to its 2022 “Top 100 Lawyers” list. The list recognizes the significant achievements of leading attorneys within the Los Angeles business community. LABJ also named Delphin-Rodriguez its 2022 “Attorney to Watch.”

New York – May 16, 2022: The Tahirih Justice Center awarded Crowell & Moring associate Brian McGrath with the Atlanta Pro Bono of the Year award in recognition of his dedication and commitment in supporting immigrant survivors fleeing violence. The award was presented at the organization’s 25th anniversary gala, “Journey to Justice: Progress & Perseverance,” on May 13 in Washington, D.C.

Washington - May 11, 2022: Crowell & Moring secured another win on behalf of ScentAir Technologies, LLC, a global leader in scent marketing, in its long-running patent infringement dispute with competitor Prolitec Inc.

Washington – May 10, 2022: Government contractors have more to consider today than ever before due to international conflicts, lingering effects of COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain issues, and the ever-changing legal and regulatory landscape.

Washington, D.C. – April 29, 2022:  Yesterday, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law filed an amicus brief at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit on behalf of Crowell & Moring pro bono client Crosley Green urging the court to grant a rehearing en banc. In addition, the Lawyers’ Committee’s brief argues that there are strong indications that this case was a racial hoax. The court's decision in this case could re-affirm that prosecutors should not hide evidence directly pointing to a defendant’s innocence and therefore impact how prosecutors handle evidence of all crimes in the future.

Titusville, Fla.- April 27, 2022: For the first time, Crosley Green and his Crowell & Moring pro bono legal team will outline their plans to keep Green free as they ask the full 11-judge panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider a recent three-judge panel decision that holds Green’s freedom in the balance. The impact of their decision could re-affirm that prosecutors should not hide evidence directly pointing to a defendant’s innocence and therefore impact how prosecutors handle evidence of all crimes in the future. Washington, D.C. – April 25, 2022: Last week, a federal judge temporarily blocked Kentucky officials from enforcing a new law that effectively bans abortions in the state from taking effect. A Crowell & Moring legal team represented Planned Parenthood. 

Chicago – April 21, 2022: Jason P. Stiehl is joining Crowell & Moring’s Chicago office as a partner in the firm’s Litigation and Technology & Brand Protection groups. Stiehl brings more than two decades of experience representing companies in commercial litigation matters, trials, and consumer class actions in state and federal courts, with a particular focus on corporate espionage, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and brand protection.  

Los Angeles – April 19, 2022: Los Angeles Business Journal named Crowell & Moring partners Nicole Janigian Simonian and Renée Delphin-Rodriguez to its 2022 “Women of Influence: Attorneys” list. The list honors women attorneys in Los Angeles who “have been recognized for exceptional legal skill and achievement across the full spectrum of responsibility, exemplary leadership as evidenced by the highest professional and ethical standards, and for contributions to the Los Angeles community at large.”

Brussels – April 13, 2022:  The Legal 500 Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2022 edition has recognized 11 practice areas and seven lawyers in Crowell & Moring’s Brussels office. The seven individual lawyers received 12 total rankings across all practice areas. The publication seeks to “highlight the practice area teams who are providing the most cutting edge and innovative advice to corporate counsel.”
