Please join us for the next edition of Third Thursday – Crowell & Moring’s Labor and Employment Update, a webinar series dedicated to helping our clients stay on top of developing law and emerging compliance issues.

Employers, courts, and regulators continue to struggle with how to handle various implications of legalization of marijuana and other drugs, including jurisdictions with laws largely prohibiting employers from conducting drug tests for marijuana or penalizing employees for off-duty marijuana use. These issues are complicated by drug testing obligations imposed on certain employers, particularly government contractors.

In particular, employers are assessing the merits of their existing drug policies and mandatory drug testing programs, especially when weighed against concerns about employee retention and morale. Our webinar will explore the changes in state and local laws and this balance of concerns facing employers. Our panel will discuss risk mitigation strategies and best practices for employers in this area.

Join Crowell & Moring as we discuss what aspects of contract performance and teaming arrangements are being scrutinized (e.g., size/status eligibility, limitations on subcontracting compliance, reasonableness of market rates, etc.) and how these considerations can impact both small government contractors holding the prime contracts under review and their subcontractors. ...
