Washington, D.C. – March 3, 2011: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that Washington, D.C.-based partner Arif H. Ali, co-chair of the firm's International Dispute Resolution practice, and Aviation Group partner Lorraine B. Halloway have received the International Law Office's (ILO) 2011 Client Choice Award in the U.S. "Arbitration" and "Aviation" categories respectfully. The exclusive ILO award is based on surveys of 2,000 senior corporate counsel who were asked to name law firm partners who excel across the full spectrum of client service. The awards were announced on March 2 at the second annual Client Choice Awards dinner in London.
Established in 2005, the ILO Client Choice Awards recognize those law firms and partners around the world that stand apart for the excellent client care they provide and the quality of their service. The criteria for the awards focus on law firms' and lawyers' ability to add real value to their clients' business above and beyond the other players in the market. ILO is one of the leading online legal update services for major companies worldwide. This year, ILO recognized 252 winners across 54 jurisdictions.
Ali's international arbitration experience spans continents and cultures, the common and civil law legal systems, national political establishments and inter-governmental organizations, private companies and state-owned enterprises, sovereign governments and private individuals. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University, where he teaches international arbitration, and an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Dundee's Centre for Energy, Mining and Petroleum Law and Policy.
Halloway counsels and represents U.S. and foreign airlines, forwarders, charter operators, shippers and trade associations in enforcement, fitness, licensing, and rulemaking proceedings before the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Homeland Security, federal courts and foreign governments. In addition to her aviation regulatory practice, Halloway counsels and represents U.S. and foreign companies on U.S. export control and sanctions compliance and enforcement matters.
