Washington, D.C. – July 10, 2002: Tim Means, a partner with Crowell & Moring’s Natural Resources & Environmental group, will join Hal Quinn of the National Mining Association, Mark McGraw of Greenebaum Doll & McDonald, and Tim Hagerty of Frost Brown Todd in addressing an Energy & Mineral Law Foundation Forum on August 15. The Forum will brief the mining community and the mineral bar on two important cases: Citizens Coal Council v. Norton and Kentuckians for the Commonwealth v. Rivenburgh (Haden II), very recent federal court decisions prohibiting subsidence and valley fills in certain circumstances.

A roundtable discussion among state regulators, OSM, the Corps of Engineers and industry technical personnel will follow, with questions/answers from the audience invited.

This program will run from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. on August 15 and is co-sited with the August 16 meeting of the Professional Engineers in Mining, also at the Holiday Inn North in Lexington, KY.

Coal operators, engineers, landmen, attorneys, mining technicians, government attorneys and technical staff are all invited to attend. Registration is $80 for EMLF members, $90 for PEM registrants, and $100 general registration. There is NO registration fee for state or federal government attorneys and staff, who are encouraged to attend this program.
