Global Competition Review Recognizes Crowell & Moring’s Antitrust and Competition Group in 2026 “GCR 100”
Significant litigation and regulatory matters drive rankings across US and Europe

Washington – December 2, 2025: Crowell & Moring’s Antitrust and Competition Group has been recognized as one of “the world’s best competition practices” by Global Competition Review’s 2026 “GCR 100.” GCR ranked Crowell as “recommended” in California, Washington, D.C., and both the Belgium and Brussels categories. The firm was also ranked as “highly recommended” in New York.
The “GCR 100” is a comprehensive ranking of law firms and economic consultancies reported to handle the most important work across key jurisdictions. GCR has recognized Crowell for 19 consecutive years.
- Belgium (Recommended) – GCR spotlighted the Belgian antitrust team, including partners Thomas De Meese and Karel Bourgeois, as well as eight counsel and associates, for advising on multiple transactions and supporting Argo Law and Waterland Private Equity in the antitrust aspects of several acquisitions.
- Brussels (Recommended) – GCR reported the Brussels practice represented clients including PON Holdings, a confidential US precious metals refining company, and is pursuing several cases to recover damages from cartel victims.
- California (Recommended) – GCR reported that “Crowell & Moring’s California antitrust group handles a steady diet of significant state and federal matters, including mergers, cartel investigations and high-stakes litigation.” The Orange County office is home to group co-chair Daniel A. Sasse and has three additional partners and 24 counsel and associates. The Los Angeles office comprises four partners and six additional lawyers, with an additional partner in San Francisco. GCR reported that recent work includes representing RTX Corporation, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Huntington Ingalls Industries, and Prime Therapeutics. The firm also represents the California Chamber of Commerce in the state’s review of possible reforms to the Cartwright Act proposed by The California Law Revision Commission.
- New York (Highly Recommended) – GCR reported that “Crowell & Moring’s New York Antitrust Practice has been on a strong run recently under the leadership of Juan Arteaga, with successes across major class actions, government challenges and complex multidistrict litigation.” GCR reported that recent work includes representing Princeton University in litigation challenging the Ivy League’s prohibition on athletic scholarships, as well as work representing Novant Health, Samsung and Mozilla, among others.
- Washington, D.C. (Recommended) – GCR spotlighted the D.C. team, including group co-chair Shawn R. Johnson, as well as 10 partners and 20 counsel and associates. The group recently gained partner Kenneth Dintzer, former deputy branch director in the National Courts Section for the Department of Justice’s Civil Division, who led DOJ’s case in U.S. v. Google. GCR reported the group served as lead counsel to CSX Transportation In re Rail Freight Fuel Surcharge Antitrust Litigation, as well as represented DirecTV, Novant Health, RTX, and Humana.
