New YorkOctober 24, 2018: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce the addition of John E. Davis as senior counsel in the firm’s E-Discovery & Information Management Practice in New York. With more than 20 years of experience, Davis will advise on complex e-discovery issues in disputes and investigations, as well as privacy, cybersecurity, and other emerging technology issues. He was most recently with UBS, where he was executive director and counsel in the Litigation and Investigations groups and head of its Global Complex Cases – E-Discovery unit. “The digital revolution is leading to the next wave of evolution in the e-discovery landscape,” Thomas said. “Our clients are facing increasing challenges and costs associated with managing growing volumes and disparate sources of data, and analyzing that data efficiently and effectively in a manner that furthers their litigation or regulatory strategy.”

Lieberman added: “John’s experience deepens our bench in this area, and we are excited about the opportunity for John and our growing E-Discovery and Information Management Practice to tackle our clients’ most challenging problems in these areas.”

He also counsels clients on information governance, privacy, security, international data transfer, and emerging technology issues; conducts cross-border investigations of data breaches; and responds to U.S. and foreign regulatory inquiries.

“I am excited to join Crowell & Moring and to work with the firm’s lawyers to further build Crowell & Moring’s E-Discovery and Information Management Practice,” Davis said. “I am eager to help our clients find innovative solutions in this cutting-edge area of the law.”

Davis earned his J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was senior articles editor of the American Criminal Law Review. He earned his B.A., with distinction, from the University of Illinois. He is an award-winning author and a member of the Sedona Conference Working Groups on e-discovery, privacy and data security.
