Crowell & Moring Partner Nicole Simonian Discusses USMCA with Mexican and Canadian Consuls General

Los Angeles – June 10, 2020: Nicole Simonian, co-chair of Crowell & Moring’s International Trade Group and International Employment and Global Mobility lead, recently moderated The Way Forward – Opportunities of USMCA, an online panel organized by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, addressing the impact of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement on the three countries and California.
Simonian, in her role as chair of the Global Council of the L.A. Chamber, spoke with the consuls general of Mexico and Canada, as well as a representative from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The group also addressed how the soon-to-be-enacted trade agreement would strengthen trade in the region and create opportunities for recovery support related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Maria S. Salinas, president & CEO of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce provided opening remarks and the panelists included:
- Hon. Marcela Celorio, Consul General, Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles
- Hon. Zaib Shaikh, Consul General, Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles
- Neil Harrington, Senior Vice President, Americas, U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Simonian has extensive background in international trade and global mobility and was recently elected to the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce board, also serving as the chair of the Chamber’s Global Initiatives Council and working on the Chamber’s World Trade Week Committee. The Los Angeles Business Journal also recently named her to the LA500 list of the most influential people in Los Angeles as a direct result of her experience advising companies on their foreign market entry and expansions worldwide, ranging from emerging companies to multinational organizations listed on the Fortune 500.
