Los Angeles – May 26, 2020: The Los Angeles Business Journal has named Nicole Simonian, co-chair of Crowell & Moring’s International Trade Group and International Employment and Global Mobility lead, to its LA500 list of the most influential people in Los Angeles.
The list, now in its fifth year, “highlights the work that took place and the progress that was made in the months before Covid-19, but it also serves as a reminder that L.A. is peopled by some of the smartest, most innovative and staunchly resilient business talent anywhere in the world.”
The publicationhighlighted Simonian’s extensive background in international trade and global mobility and her recent election to the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce board, as well as her work on the Chamber’s World Trade Week Committee. She is also serving as the Chair of the Chamber’s Global Initiatives Council. They also noted the depth of her experience advising companies in Asian markets on their market entry and expansions worldwide, ranging from emerging companies to multinational organizations listed on the Fortune 500. Additionally, Simonian is a partner advisor for the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative, where she advocates for diversity and inclusion at the firm, as well as supports up-and-coming women lawyers.
“(Simonian) has significant background as a strategic adviser and often serves as outside general counsel for companies with their market entry and global business expansion, operations and dispositions worldwide,” the publication stated.
As a result of the focus on Asia, Simonian saw early on the importance of establishing a dedicated response team to address the Covid-19 pandemic. She was a founding member of the firm’s Covid-19 Working Group. As a member of the task force, she advises employers on compliance with U.S. and international laws and regulations global affecting employers and providing guidance on how to navigate the regulatory complexities faced by companies not only in Asia, but throughout Latin America, the Middle East and Europe. Her efforts have also connected the firm to a global effort to secure and strengthen supply chains, with Simonian continuing as a trusted advisor to multinational companies that have been dealing with these unprecedented issues since the start of the year.
