Crowell & Moring Named to "GIR 100" for Sixth Consecutive Year

Washington – October 29, 2020: Global Investigations Review has named Crowell & Moring’s investigations and white collar practices to its prestigious GIR 100 list, an annual guide to the world’s leading cross-border investigations practices. Based on extensive research, GIR selects 100 firms from around the world that it deems most able to handle sophisticated cross-border government-led and internal investigations. This is the sixth consecutive year that Crowell & Moring has made the list.

GIR highlights the firm’s bench of former government officials and experience handling global investigations and defending companies and individuals in connection with foreign bribery, sanctions, and financial services misconduct. The publication noted recent matters such as a $16.6-million Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) settlement with the U.S. Justice Department for the asphalt transportation company Sargeant Marine, and representation of JPMorgan Chase managing director Tim Fletcher in one of the first FCPA-related actions brought by the Federal Reserve against an individual.

The publication also noted the arrival earlier this year of partner Caroline E. Brown, who has over a decade of experience as a national security attorney at the Justice and Treasury Departments, including the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network. Also mentioned in the guide as “top white collar lawyers to know” were partners Thomas A. Hanusik, chair of Crowell & Moring’s Investigations Practice and a former 12-year federal prosecutor; Crowell & Moring chair Philip T. Inglima, who served as senior associate independent counsel in the investigation of then-Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt; and Kelly T. Currie, former acting US attorney and chief assistant US attorney for the Eastern District of New York.

“We are proud to be recognized by GIR as one of the world’s premier firms for our white collar and investigations team,” said Daniel L. Zelenko, chair of the firm’s White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group. “With enforcement actions on the rise around the globe, we are more committed than ever to helping our clients navigate complex investigations and crisis scenarios.”
