Crowell & Moring Named Finalist in Global Competition Review's Third Annual "GCR Awards"

Washington, D.C. – April 25, 2013: Global Competition Review (GCR), considered to be the leading international journal of competition policy and regulation, selected two matters handled by Crowell & Moring LLP as finalists for the third annual GCR Awards. Specifically, United Technologies Corporation's acquisition of Goodrich Corporation was named as one of five finalists in both the "Matter of the Year" and "Merger Control of the Year – Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Africa" categories. Crowell & Moring served as U.S. antitrust co-counsel to United Technologies Corp. (UTC) in this deal. In addition, DuPont Pioneer Hi-Bred's acquisition of Pannar Seed Company (South Africa) was selected as one of the five finalists in the "Merger Control of the Year - Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Africa" category. Crowell & Moring served as antitrust counsel to DuPont Pioneer Hi-Bred in this matter.

At the GCR Awards dinner held at the W Hotel in Washington, D.C. on April 9, Christoph Feddersen, former assistant general counsel for United Technologies Corporation, was chosen out of five finalists in the "Individual Awards" category as "Corporate Counsel of the Year" for his work on the UTC/Goodrich deal.

According to Global Competition Review, the "GCR Awards" aim to recognize the outstanding achievements of teams and individuals from private practice firms, corporate legal departments, economic consultancies, academic organizations, and competition authorities. Finalists were initially compiled by a GCR editorial team at the publication and winners were selected through online voting.

Also of note, Crowell & Moring's Antitrust Group was also recently recognized as "Highly Recommended" in the 13th edition of the "GCR 100: The World's Leading Competition Practices," in the categories of "United States: Government Antitrust" and "United States: New York."
