Washington, D.C. September 13, 2007 – Crowell & Moring LLP, along with 22 of the nation's leading law firms, has joined The Project for Attorney Retention (PAR) as a Founding Member. PAR works to stem unwanted attrition among lawyers - a benefit for both legal employers and the lawyers themselves - by the advancement of women in the legal profession and promoting work/life balance.
“Crowell & Moring is proud to be a Founding Member of PAR as it focuses on improving opportunities for women in law firms, particularly in the areas of work/life balance, success on a part-time track, and the movement of women into firm leadership. We look forward to participating in the annual academy for women partners and sharing best practices with other members,“ said Monica G. Parham, Crowell & Moring’s diversity counsel.
Launched as part of the Women's Bar Association of D.C.'s retention initiative, PAR has previously issued reports about part-time work in law firms and corporate law departments, and will launch a new study of part-time law firm partners in October 2007. PAR members work with the group to review their part-time policies and participate in professional development discussions for attorneys who work reduced hours .Additional firms are expected to join in the coming months.
