Emily Kappers focuses her practice on trademark, trade dress, copyright, and unfair competition law. Emily represents a diverse range of clients, from large corporations to start-up companies both in the United States and internationally.
Emily’s trademark prosecution and counseling practice includes the clearance, prosecution, and enforcement of trademarks. Emily partners with her clients to develop, grow, and maintain their trademark portfolios, and advises clients on trademark protection in the United States and in key foreign jurisdictions, including China and the European Union.
Emily’s litigation experience includes representing clients in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board oppositions and cancellation actions, and in civil litigation in federal district court.
Emily is experienced with domain name disputes under the Uniform Name Dispute Resolution Policy, and skilled in assisting clients with online intellectual property protection.
Emily is active in both the legal and Chicago community. Emily serves as the Chair of the Chicago Women in Intellectual Property (ChiWIP)’s Social Events and Networking Committee, and as a board member of the Ravinia Associates Board.
