San Francisco – October 6, 2020: The Recorder named Crowell & Moring partner J. Daniel Sharp to its 2020 list of California Trailblazers. The list features California-based lawyers who have made significant marks on the practice, policy, and technological advancement of their practice.

The case,The Regents of the University of California v. Paul S. Aisen, et al., was settled with a $50 million payment and a public apology from USC and one of its faculty members. The Los Angeles Times reported on the settlement as a “jaw-dropping conclusion” to “unprecedented litigation” concerning the protection of academic research.

Editors at The Recorder described Sharp as a “veteran litigator who has represented investors, universities, corporations, and others in major cases in trial and appellate courts,” and one who has “taken extra measures to contribute to positive outcomes…[an] agent of change.”
