New York – November 2, 2020: The National Law Journal named Crowell & Moring counsel Jared Levine to its 2020 list of Immigration Law Trailblazers. The list honors 25 lawyers from around the country who have made impacts within the immigration law field.
Levine was recognized for his commitment to pro bono cases that advocate for those in need. Levine told the NLJ that his experience spending a summer working at a detention facility in Georgia with the Southern Poverty Law Center gave him the “sense of how widespread and inhumane mass detention is.” The experience fueled his passion and inspired him to dedicate a significant part of his pro bono practice to immigration work.
In a profile of Levine, editors at the National Law Journal noted the work Levine has done with the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc., including working on Board of Immigration Appeal cases for victims of the Trump administration’s family separation policy and “a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Justice… [seeking] to overturn new policies designed to dismantle long-standing protections for asylum seekers who were targeted for persecution in their home countries because they are members of a particular family.”
