National Institute on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
October 16 - 17, 2008
With sharply increased enforcement of anti-corruption laws in the United States and abroad, this program will provide a timely and substantive briefing on developments in this area of critical importance to companies, their officers and employees. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations and enforcement proceedings brought by the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission continue to increase dramatically in number and severity. Individuals are prosecuted far more frequently than in prior years. The advent of transnational bribery legislation in more and more countries and the U.S. focus on foreign violators; have significantly increased the liability associated with projects and acquisitions in high risk countries. As a result, effective compliance programs and careful due diligence have become vital to protect against violations.
This program will feature experienced government, corporate and private practitioners who regularly deal with issues raised by the FCPA. The Institute will provide valuable insights into effective compliance practices including pre-merger and acquisition due diligence, management of anti-corruption business risks, conducting internal investigations and dealing with the government’s expectations.
