Roma Sharma

In addition, Roma has an active pro bono practice. She and her team successfully obtained asylum for a client after a nearly 10-year wait in the federal system and continues to represent the client in related matters. Roma also currently represents a non-profit homeless shelter in healthcare regulatory compliance. She recently represented an immigration detainee who sought a habeas petition and has represented clients seeking clemency. Roma and her team successfully obtained settlement on behalf of an inmate who alleged assault and battery by the state. Roma has also represented several non-profit organizations, providing counsel on telemedicine and HIPAA. Before joining Crowell & Moring, Roma worked at the Office of the General Counsel at the American Medical Association, the Health Care Bureau at the Illinois Office of the Attorney General, and the Federal Government Affairs and Public Policy division at Sanofi Pasteur. Roma graduated cum laude from The George Washington University Law School. She also holds a master in public health (MPH) from The George Washington University Milken Institute, where she served as president of the Health Policy Student Association and was elected to the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health. Roma frequently presents at conferences and writes client alerts and articles on healthcare AI and fraud and abuse developments. She is an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA), the American Bar Association (ABA), the Women’s Bar Association (WBA), is co-chair of the firm’s Women Leadership Initiative (WLI), and is serving her second year as a co-lead in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) coaching circles program.
