Overview

Brent Murcia is an associate in Crowell’s Health Care Group who represents health care clients in high-stakes disputes. His practice includes fraud disputes, breach-of-contract claims, state consumer-protection claims, and other related matters. Clients value Brent’s dedication to learning their stories and his passion for clear and engaging legal writing.

Brent has spent his career tackling complex problems. Before joining Crowell, Brent practiced health care and commercial litigation at a national law firm. He also served as a judicial law clerk for Chief Judge Susan L. Segal and Judge Jeffrey M. Bryan at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. The rest of Brent’s career has spanned from environmental policy advocacy to grassroots organizing to operating an organic vegetable farm. From this work, he understands the importance of resilience and tenacity, the value of an interdisciplinary approach to complex problems, and the persuasive power of storytelling.

Brent graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he competed in a national moot court competition and served as Executive Editor of the Minnesota Journal of Law, Science & Technology; President of the Environmental and Energy Law Society; and a board member of the Latinx Law Students Association. As a student attorney in a law school clinic, Brent drafted briefs and presented oral arguments in a complex and high-profile proceeding before the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Pro bono work is central to Brent’s practice. He has provided pro bono service on immigration, housing, and environmental matters. Demonstrating his commitment to this work, Brent was named a “North Star Lawyer” by the Minnesota State Bar Association for providing at least 50 hours of pro bono legal services in 2024 and was recognized for dedicating more than 250 hours to law-related public service while in law school.
