Open Letter to the Florida Commission on Offender Review

We write as authors, academics, and advocates for justice who are committed to pursuing fairness and recognizing the dignity and inherent value of every human life within our legal system.

We stand in support of Crosley Green as he seeks his freedom. We respectfully ask the State of Florida and the Florida Commission on Offender Review to grant Mr. Green’s immediate parole and release from prison.

Mr. Green is now 68 years old. For more than 34 years, he has lived behind prison walls, separated from the children, grandchildren, loved ones, and community who have carried the pain of his absence every single day and are waiting faithfully for his return. Mr. Green looks to the future with remarkable faith and hope. He has maintained an impeccable institutional record throughout his years in prison. During his two years of conditional release, from 2021-2023, he demonstrated his ability to live with dignity, purpose, and to contribute to his church, workplace, and community. He has shown the good he can do when he is free to do it.

It is essential that justice be done, and here that requires that Mr. Green be freed.
