Brussels – March 24, 2021: Chambers and Partners has ranked four Crowell & Moring practice groups and seven individual lawyers in the Chambers Europe 2021 guide. The rankings are driven by independent interviews of clients and members of the legal community.

Washington – March 24, 2021: Crowell & Moring’s E-Discovery and Information Management group has launched an integrated E-Discovery service called C&M Discovery (CMD) that combines supported technology capabilities with the group’s existing practice offerings of legal advocacy, consulting, review, and professional services. The firm has partnered with a leading technology provider with data centers in multiple jurisdictions to enable work on matters of practically any size, location, and complexity.

Washington – March 24, 2021: Latinvex has named Crowell & Moring as one of Latin America’s Top Law Firms of 2021. Overall, the firm is listed among the top 50 global firms ranked for their legal work in Latin America. For the individual categories, the firm ranked second in Labor, sixth in Trade & Sanctions, 10th in FCPA, Fraud & Investigations, 14th in Corporate/M&A, and 25th in Arbitration. Latinvex also named Crowell & Moring partner Ian A. Laird as one of Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers and partner Nicole Janigian Simonian as one of Latin America’s Top 100 Female Lawyers in 2020.

Washington, D.C. – March 24, 2021: Crowell & Moring lawyers for Crosley Green—whose conviction was overturned by an Orlando federal court more than two-and-a-half years ago—have asked the court to grant his immediate release from a Florida state prison due to COVID-19 health risks. Mr. Green is at increased risk for contracting, and even dying of, COVID-19, because, in addition to his age, changes to Mr. Green’s health condition make him more vulnerable to COVID-19—new facts only learned by his counsel in recent weeks.

New York – March 18, 2021: Crowell & Moring and Kibbe & Orbe have agreed to join forces to provide expanded service offerings to clients in the financial services industry. As part of the transaction, 24 lawyers from the storied financial law firm would become part of Crowell & Moring’s New York, London, and Washington, D.C. offices, including Jennifer Grady, managing partner and chair of the firm’s executive committee, three founding partners, Jonathan Kibbe, William Orbe, and Michael D. Mann, and the managing partner of the London office, Andrew M. Martin. The transaction is expected to close in April.

Washington – March 18, 2021: Housing Counseling Services (HCS), a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive housing counseling to low-income individuals, and Robert Evans, a D.C. resident, have entered into a settlement agreement with Bozzuto Management Company. The agreement is designed to eliminate discriminatory barriers to housing for residents seeking rental housing using subsidies. It is important because it will make it easier for D.C. residents who use housing subsidies to secure housing opportunities in the District’s tight housing market.

New York – March 16, 2021: City & State New York has again named Glen G. McGorty, managing partner of Crowell & Moring’s New York office, to its 2021 Law Power 100 List. The list recognizes New York lawyers who are “having an impact in New York’s political and government spheres.”

Washington – March 15, 2021: Crowell & Moring is expanding its Environmental, Social, and Governance practice by forming a dedicated global ESG Advisory Team to enhance the firm’s ability to address the rapidly changing landscape of federal and state policies and regulations, as well as investor and stakeholder concerns, that are driving businesses to proactively address corporate responsibility. The ESG practice helps clients increase opportunities while managing risks in this new and evolving environment.

Washington – March 5, 2021: Crowell & Moring lawyers participated in the National Bar Association Commercial Law Section’s 34th Annual Corporate Counsel Conference, serving as moderators for “fireside chats” with chief executives on topics ranging from how corporate legal departments function to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the private sector to outside counsel guidelines. Taking place virtually from February 23-26, the annual conference was “a place to nurture connections and… spend three days in fellowship with corporate attorneys from law firms and companies around the world.”

Washington – March 5, 2021: Crowell & Moring and the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition secured a victory at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, which granted a petition for review in the case of a Honduran citizen facing a final order of removal from the Board of Immigration Appeals.

Los Angeles and Brussels – February 22, 2021: World Trademark Review has ranked Crowell & Moring as one of the top trademark firms in Brussels and California in the WTR 1000 research directory, which focuses exclusively on the world’s leading trademark practices and practitioners. The annual list identifies firms in the trademark space by considering depth of expertise, market presence, and level of work, as well as peer and client feedback.

Washington – February 19, 2021: Crowell & Moring counsel Michelle Pham has been selected as a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 2021 class of Fellows. In addition, associates Helen Osun and Chris Garcia have been named to the LCLD 2021 class of Pathfinders. The Fellows and Pathfinders programs are widely considered two of the most comprehensive legal talent development programs in the nation.

Washington—February 17, 2021: Michael K. Atkinson, the former Inspector General of the U.S. Intelligence Community, is joining Crowell & Moring as a partner, expanding the firm’s white collar, internal investigations, and national security capabilities.

San Francisco – February 10, 2021: Crowell & Moring advised Kountable Inc., the leading global trade and technology platform, in connection with its Series A-1 financing lead by Lateral Capital. Kountable secured this round of funding as part of its efforts to expand its U.S. presence and widen its COVID response to further support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The Kountable platform operates as the necessary missing element that gets critical goods delivered in difficult market conditions. For the past five years, Kountable has activated the capability of SMEs through is curated execution network to efficiently complete large scale projects for governments, foundations, NGOs, and corporations that have had a positive impact on millions of lives. Kountable has solved the challenges of collaboration between critical but overlooked SMEs who play a key role in the success of vast swaths of global trade activity, global multinational suppliers, funders, and logistics and trade services providers.

Washington – February 10, 2021: Crowell & Moring successfully secured summary and final judgment as well as attorney fees and costs for ScentAir Technologies, a global leader in scent marketing, in a patent infringement case that has spanned almost a decade against competitor Prolitec. ScentAir develops scents and scenting technologies for many of the world’s most recognized retail and hospitality brands. The final order came down January 27: the team won costs and attorney fees it had sought from Prolitec. U.S. District Court Judge Brett H. Ludwig of the Eastern District of Wisconsin summarized his award of the full amount of attorney fees sought: “Prolitec’s Unnecessary and Meritless Challenges to the Entry of Judgment Make this an ‘Exceptional’ Case under 35 U.S.C. 285.”

San Francisco – February 8, 2021: Crowell & Moring advised Onyx Inc., a California-based fitness-tech company building the world’s smartest digital training experience, in its acquisition by Cure.fit, India’s largest health and fitness conglomerate. This all-stock transaction combines the digital and offline experiences across fitness, nutrition, and mental well-being offered by Cure.fit with Onyx’s body-tracking technology and personalization of workout feedback. Founded in 2018, Onyx has been featured by Apple, Forbes, CNN, and others. Its mission is to make personalized fitness accessible to anyone and provide the greatest connected fitness experience that does not rely on expensive hardware. Cure.fit aims to bolster its digital offerings in India and abroad with this acquisition.

Washington – February 8, 2021: The Irish Voice named Crowell & Moring’s Christine Hawes to the annual “Irish Legal 100” list. The list is a “compilation of the most distinguished legal professionals in the United States who share one common bond: pride in their Irish roots.” The “Irish Legal 100 2020” marks the thirteenth annual edition of the list.

Washington – February 5, 2021: The Human Rights Campaign Foundation awarded Crowell & Moring a score of 100 percent on their 2021 Corporate Equality Index, its national benchmarking survey and report. The foundation rates companies based on their corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) workplace equality. This year marks the 11th consecutive year that the firm has been recognized by HRC.
