Washington – April 21, 2021: Crowell & Moring’s Well-Being Committee will host a week of events in conjunction with Well-Being Week (May 3-7). This year’s celebration will be the first since the firm launched an expanded healthy living brand: CroWellBeing.

Brussels – April 16, 2021: The Legal 500 Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2021 edition has recognized 11 practice areas and seven lawyers in Crowell & Moring’s Brussels office. The seven individual lawyers received 11 total rankings across all practice areas. The publication seeks to “highlight the practice area teams who are providing the most cutting edge and innovative advice to corporate counsel.”

Washington, D.C. – April 14, 2021: Toni Michelle Jackson, Deputy Attorney General of the Public Interest Division at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia (OAG), is joining Crowell & Moring as a partner in its Litigation and Labor & Employment groups, as well as State Attorneys General practice.  

Washington, DC – April 8, 2021:  Crowell & Moring client Crosley Green walked out of prison last night into the open arms of his family after spending more than three decades incarcerated for a murder he did not commit.

Doha – April 5, 2021: Crowell & Moring and the German Business Council Qatar (GBCQ) held a webinar on the latest developments regarding Qatari labor and employment reforms. The virtual event, which took place on Monday, was presented by Michael Palmer, senior counsel at the firm.

New York – April 1, 2021: Crowell & Moring and Kibbe & Orbe have joined forces effective today to provide expanded service offerings to clients in the financial services industry.  Twenty-four lawyers from the storied financial law firm are now part of Crowell & Moring’s New York, London, and Washington, D.C. offices, including Jennifer Grady, managing partner and chair of the firm’s executive committee, who will co-chair Crowell & Moring’s Corporate practice; three founding partners, Jonathan Kibbe, William Orbe, and Michael D. Mann, and the managing partner of the London office, Andrew M. Martin.

Washington – April 1, 2021: Patexia has named Crowell & Moring a “Most Active” and “Best Performing” law firm for Section 337 unfair import investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission in its 2021 ITC Intelligence Report.

Washington – March 29, 2021: Chambers and Partners has shortlisted Crowell & Moring for the Privacy & Data Security Law Firm of the Year award at the Chambers USA Awards 2021. Winner of the Chambers USA Awards, which recognizes “a law firm’s pre-eminence in key jurisdictions in the country,” will be announced during a virtual event on May 27, 2021.

San Francisco – March 25, 2021: In a unanimous decision published earlier today, the California Supreme Court ruled that California’s current bail system violates the federal and state constitutions. Writing for the Court, Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar noted, “whether an accused person is detained pending trial often does not depend on a careful, individualized determination of the need to protect public safety, but merely — as one judge observes — the accused’s ability to post the sum provided in a county’s uniform bail schedule.” In light of today’s ruling, judges must now consider a defendant’s ability to pay bail, in addition to the seriousness of the charges and the defendant’s prior criminal history.

Doha – March 25, 2021: Crowell & Moring and the International Chamber of Commerce Qatar (ICC Qatar) plan to present an interactive program on the growing interest in mediation and other ADR methods in Qatar. Washington – March 24, 2021: Crowell & Moring’s E-Discovery and Information Management group has launched an integrated E-Discovery service called C&M Discovery (CMD) that combines supported technology capabilities with the group’s existing practice offerings of legal advocacy, consulting, review, and professional services. The firm has partnered with a leading technology provider with data centers in multiple jurisdictions to enable work on matters of practically any size, location, and complexity.

Washington – March 24, 2021: Latinvex has named Crowell & Moring as one of Latin America’s Top Law Firms of 2021. Overall, the firm is listed among the top 50 global firms ranked for their legal work in Latin America. For the individual categories, the firm ranked second in Labor, sixth in Trade & Sanctions, 10th in FCPA, Fraud & Investigations, 14th in Corporate/M&A, and 25th in Arbitration. Washington, D.C. – March 24, 2021: Crowell & Moring lawyers for Crosley Green—whose conviction was overturned by an Orlando federal court more than two-and-a-half years ago—have asked the court to grant his immediate release from a Florida state prison due to COVID-19 health risks. Mr. Green is at increased risk for contracting, and even dying of, COVID-19, because, in addition to his age, changes to Mr. Green’s health condition make him more vulnerable to COVID-19—new facts only learned by his counsel in recent weeks.

New York – March 18, 2021: Crowell & Moring and Kibbe & Orbe have agreed to join forces to provide expanded service offerings to clients in the financial services industry. As part of the transaction, 24 lawyers from the storied financial law firm would become part of Crowell & Moring’s New York, London, and Washington, D.C. offices, including Jennifer Grady, managing partner and chair of the firm’s executive committee, three founding partners, Jonathan Kibbe, William Orbe, and Michael D. Mann, and the managing partner of the London office, Andrew M. Martin. The transaction is expected to close in April.

Washington – March 18, 2021: Housing Counseling Services (HCS), a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive housing counseling to low-income individuals, and Robert Evans, a D.C. resident, have entered into a settlement agreement with Bozzuto Management Company. The agreement is designed to eliminate discriminatory barriers to housing for residents seeking rental housing using subsidies. It is important because it will make it easier for D.C. residents who use housing subsidies to secure housing opportunities in the District’s tight housing market.

New York – March 16, 2021: City & State New York has again named Glen G. McGorty, managing partner of Crowell & Moring’s New York office, to its 2021 Law Power 100 List. The list recognizes New York lawyers who are “having an impact in New York’s political and government spheres.”

Washington – March 15, 2021: Crowell & Moring is expanding its Environmental, Social, and Governance practice by forming a dedicated global ESG Advisory Team to enhance the firm’s ability to address the rapidly changing landscape of federal and state policies and regulations, as well as investor and stakeholder concerns, that are driving businesses to proactively address corporate responsibility. The ESG practice helps clients increase opportunities while managing risks in this new and evolving environment.

Washington – March 5, 2021: Crowell & Moring lawyers participated in the National Bar Association Commercial Law Section’s 34th Annual Corporate Counsel Conference, serving as moderators for “fireside chats” with chief executives on topics ranging from how corporate legal departments function to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the private sector to outside counsel guidelines. Taking place virtually from February 23-26, the annual conference was “a place to nurture connections and… spend three days in fellowship with corporate attorneys from law firms and companies around the world.”

Washington – March 5, 2021: Crowell & Moring and the Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights Coalition secured a victory at the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, which granted a petition for review in the case of a Honduran citizen facing a final order of removal from the Board of Immigration Appeals.
