Los Angeles – May 19, 2021: The Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles County Bar Association are calling on the legal industry to redouble its commitment to programs and policies that aim to retain and advance women lawyers.

Washington – May 18, 2021: Redoubling its commitment to diversity, Crowell & Moring’s incoming summer associate class is more than 75 percent women and diverse, the most in the firm’s history.

Washington – May 11, 2021: Crowell & Moring and IHS Markit hosted a panel in honor of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. The virtual event gathered leading Asian American scholars and community advocates, as well as over 200 attendees both internal and external to the hosting organizations, to discuss the complex and untaught history of anti-Asian racism, misogyny, fetishism, dehumanization, scapegoating, and xenophobia.

Washington, D.C. – May 13, 2020: Kate Beale is joining Crowell & Moring and Crowell & Moring International LLC (CMI), bringing more than two decades of U.S. and international experience leading global health, international trade, investment, and economic policy in Congress, the Obama-Biden administration, foreign markets, and in C-suites across Global Fortune 500 companies.

Washington – May 13, 2021: The National Black Lawyers has selected six Crowell & Moring lawyers for inclusion in its Top 100 Black Lawyers and Top 40 Under 40 Lawyers lists. Membership in the organization is by invitation only and is limited to the top lawyers in each region, selected based on their “reputation for providing excellent legal representation and [being] leaders in their respective practice areas.”

Washington – May 7, 2021: Crowell & Moring has published its fourth annual “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Report,” which highlights the firm’s initiatives aimed at increasing diversity and ensuring equity and opportunity firmwide. Building on its longstanding commitment to fostering a workplace that supports and develops employees of all backgrounds, the firm made significant progress in 2020.

Washington – May 5, 2021: Crowell & Moring is pleased to announce that Lisa Kimmel has been shortlisted for Concurrences and George Washington University’s “2021 Antitrust Writing Awards” for her article, “The Patent Market Power Fallacy.” The article originally appeared in The Licensing Journal. The award honors the best antitrust articles published in the past year, and will be announced during a virtual awards ceremony on Wednesday, June 30th. Kimmel is a finalist for the “best academic article” in the intellectual property category.

London – May 5, 2021: Peter Broadhurst, a highly regarded competition lawyer, is joining Crowell & Moring’s London office as a partner, expanding the firm’s capability to advise clients on their most complex U.K. and EU competition matters.

Washington, DC – May 5, 2021:  The Maryland Office of the Public Defender, the Talbot County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), attorney Kisha Petticolas, and community activist Richard M. Potter today joined with the American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland and the Washington, D.C. law firm Crowell & Moring LLP to file suit in federal district court in Baltimore challenging as  racist and illegal Talbot County’s placement and retention of a Confederate monument on the grounds of the county courthouse in Easton — the last on public land in Maryland. 

Washington – April 26, 2021: The National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being has launched a new nonprofit dedicated to advancing systemic change in the legal profession so that well-being becomes a core component of personal and professional success. 

Washington – April 21, 2021: Crowell & Moring’s Well-Being Committee will host a week of events in conjunction with Well-Being Week (May 3-7). This year’s celebration will be the first since the firm launched an expanded healthy living brand: CroWellBeing.

Brussels – April 16, 2021: The Legal 500 Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2021 edition has recognized 11 practice areas and seven lawyers in Crowell & Moring’s Brussels office. The seven individual lawyers received 11 total rankings across all practice areas. The publication seeks to “highlight the practice area teams who are providing the most cutting edge and innovative advice to corporate counsel.”

Washington, D.C. – April 14, 2021: Toni Michelle Jackson, Deputy Attorney General of the Public Interest Division at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia (OAG), is joining Crowell & Moring as a partner in its Litigation and Labor & Employment groups, as well as State Attorneys General practice.  

Washington, DC – April 8, 2021:  Crowell & Moring client Crosley Green walked out of prison last night into the open arms of his family after spending more than three decades incarcerated for a murder he did not commit.

Doha – April 5, 2021: Crowell & Moring and the German Business Council Qatar (GBCQ) held a webinar on the latest developments regarding Qatari labor and employment reforms. The virtual event, which took place on Monday, was presented by Michael Palmer, senior counsel at the firm.

New York – April 1, 2021: Crowell & Moring and Kibbe & Orbe have joined forces effective today to provide expanded service offerings to clients in the financial services industry.  Twenty-four lawyers from the storied financial law firm are now part of Crowell & Moring’s New York, London, and Washington, D.C. offices, including Jennifer Grady, managing partner and chair of the firm’s executive committee, who will co-chair Crowell & Moring’s Corporate practice; three founding partners, Jonathan Kibbe, William Orbe, and Michael D. Washington – April 1, 2021: Patexia has named Crowell & Moring a “Most Active” and “Best Performing” law firm for Section 337 unfair import investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission in its 2021 ITC Intelligence Report.

Washington – March 29, 2021: Chambers and Partners has shortlisted Crowell & Moring for the Privacy & Data Security Law Firm of the Year award at the Chambers USA Awards 2021. Winner of the Chambers USA Awards, which recognizes “a law firm’s pre-eminence in key jurisdictions in the country,” will be announced during a virtual event on May 27, 2021.

San Francisco – March 25, 2021: In a unanimous decision published earlier today, the California Supreme Court ruled that California’s current bail system violates the federal and state constitutions. Writing for the Court, Justice Mariano-Florentino Cuéllar noted, “whether an accused person is detained pending trial often does not depend on a careful, individualized determination of the need to protect public safety, but merely — as one judge observes — the accused’s ability to post the sum provided in a county’s uniform bail schedule.” In light of today’s ruling, judges must now consider a defendant’s ability to pay bail, in addition to the seriousness of the charges and the defendant’s prior criminal history.
