San Francisco – March 19, 2026: Crowell & Moring achieved a decisive victory for Kawasaki Heavy Industries in the Northern District of California, obtaining a $48 million jury verdict after a two-week trial. The jury unanimously found that Rorze Corporation and its U.S. subsidiary, Rorze Automation, Inc., willfully infringed Kawasaki’s U.S. Patent No. RE45,772.

Washington – January 9, 2026: Crowell & Moring elected 15 new partners effective January 1, 2026. The firm also promoted 26 associates to counsel, and one counsel to senior counsel.

Washington – February 8, 2024: Crowell & Moring secured a resounding victory for ScentAir Technologies, LLC on Friday, January 26th in ScentAir’s long-running patent infringement battle against competitor Prolitec, when a Delaware federal jury found ScentAir did not infringe Prolitec’s asserted patents. This win marks another milestone in ScentAir's history of successfully defending its innovative technologies and intellectual property from Prolitec’s misguided assertions of patent infringement.

Washington, D.C. – May 24, 2023: Crowell & Moring secured another win on behalf of ScentAir Technologies, LLC in its long-running patent infringement dispute with competitor Prolitec Inc. On Monday, Prolitec was forced to withdraw the assertion of one of its patents because there was no merit to its infringement theory. This is the latest in a long string of wins against Prolitec by ScentAir, a global leader in scent marketing for many of the world’s most recognized retail and hospitality brands.

San Francisco – October 27, 2022: Kids in Need of Defense recognized Crowell & Moring lawyers Molly Jones and Suzanne Rode for their work supporting pro bono matters for the organization. Jones was named the Pro Bono Advocate of the Year by KIND’s San Francisco office and Rode received a KINDness Matters Award. KIND was founded by the Microsoft Corporation and UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie, and “is the leading national organization that works to ensure that no refugee or immigrant child faces immigration court alone.”

New Orleans – June 16, 2021: Voice of the Experienced (VOTE), a Louisiana-based grassroots organization founded and run by formerly incarcerated people, and Advancement Project, a next-generation, multi-racial civil rights organization, along with Crowell & Moring LLP, celebrated the enactment of Act 127 – H.B. 378 in Louisiana, which was signed into law on June 10, 2021. The bill will ensure that individuals sentenced only to probation will not lose their voting rights due to a felony conviction, and will prevent government officials from expending unnecessary resources to suspend voting rights, and then having to work to restore them for people who should not have been suspended from voter rolls in the first place. More than 30,000 people are currently estimated to be on probation in Louisiana, and the new law will help additional people each year as new individuals are sentenced to probation.

San Francisco – December 21, 2020: In a novel constitutional case, Crowell & Moring secured a decisive victory for the University of California (UC) by defeating a motion for preliminary injunction which sought to halt the implementation of an Executive Order requiring that all UC students, employees, and faculty working, studying, or living on campus to get a flu shot by November 1. UC was one of dozens of U.S. colleges and universities that implemented a flu vaccine requirement this year, due to the confluence of the 2020-21 flu season and the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

Los Angeles – July 16, 2020: The Department of Homeland Security reversed its directive that would have forced international students to leave the United States if they were enrolled in only online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Crowell & Moring worked with the University of California to file a lawsuit against the federal government and motion for injunctive relief, joining other universities making similar moves.

Washington – January 2, 2020: Crowell & Moring elected eight lawyers to the firm’s partnership, effective January 1, 2020. The firm also promoted seven attorneys to the position of senior counsel, and 26 associates to the position of counsel. The new partners have been promoted from within the ranks of the firm’s Washington, Los Angeles, and San Francisco offices. The new partners have been promoted from across offices and practice groups, including White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement, Health Care, International Trade, Intellectual Property, Privacy & Cybersecurity, Government Contracts, Litigation, and Antitrust.
