Washington – June 26, 2025: Crowell & Moring has been recommended in eight practice areas in the 18th edition of the Legal 500 United States. In addition, partner Daniel Forman, co-chair of the firm’s Government Contracts Group, has been named to the Legal 500’s “Hall of Fame” for Government Contracts.

New Orleans – June 16, 2021: Voice of the Experienced (VOTE), a Louisiana-based grassroots organization founded and run by formerly incarcerated people, and Advancement Project, a next-generation, multi-racial civil rights organization, along with Crowell & Moring LLP, celebrated the enactment of Act 127 – H.B. 378 in Louisiana, which was signed into law on June 10, 2021. The bill will ensure that individuals sentenced only to probation will not lose their voting rights due to a felony conviction, and will prevent government officials from expending unnecessary resources to suspend voting rights, and then having to work to restore them for people who should not have been suspended from voter rolls in the first place. More than 30,000 people are currently estimated to be on probation in Louisiana, and the new law will help additional people each year as new individuals are sentenced to probation.

Washington – November 5, 2019: Crowell & Moring’s White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group has been named to the Global Investigation Review’s 2019 “GIR 100” list, which honors the world’s leading firms for corporate investigations. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the firm has been recognized for this honor.

On September 25, 2025, the Northern District of Texas granted plaintiffs’ motion for summary judgment in Humana v. Becerra, vacating CMS’s 2023 Final Rule regarding risk adjustment data validation (RADV) audits. In the litigation, Humana challenged CMS’s decision in the Final Rule to not continue applying a Fee-for-Service (FFS) adjuster to its RADV audit methodology.

CMS is well underway in initiating and conducting its Risk Adjustment Data Validation (RADV) audits of Medicare Advantage (MA) organizations for PY 2019, and PY 2020 audit notices are likely to arrive by the end of September. The timing for subsequent PY audits is less clear, but notices will likely be coming soon given CMS’s announced plans to complete all remaining audits by early 2026, including all contracts for PY 2020 and beyond. This approach marks a significant deviation from the agency’s prior policy of reviewing only a fraction of contracts and at a much slower pace.

The Departments of Labor (“DOL”), Health and Human Services (“HHS”), and Treasury (the “Tri-Agencies”) have signaled that changes may be coming to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (“MHPAEA”) Final Rule issued on September 8, 2024. On May 9, 2025, the Tri-Agencies filed a Motion for Abeyance in a lawsuit brought by the ERISA Industry Committee (“ERIC”) challenging the 2024 final MHPAEA regulations in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.[1] The Motion, which was granted by the Court, indicated that the Tri-Agencies intend to “reconsider” the Final Rule, including “whether to issue a notice of proposed rulemaking rescinding or modifying the Final Rule.” Yesterday, on May 15, 2025, the Tri-Agencies issued a notice of non-enforcement stating that they “will not enforce the 2024 Final Rule or otherwise pursue enforcement actions, based on a failure to comply that occurs prior to a final decision in the litigation, plus an additional 18 months.”

In the National Law Journal (NLJ) special report "Washington Litigation Departments of the Year," Crowell & Moring was named "Department of the Year" in the "General Civil Litigation" category. For this report, the NLJ editorial team evaluated litigation departments in the nation's capital based on several criteria including biggest wins, revenues, headcounts, and operations. As a result of their research and findings, the team selected six "excellent firms" in this first-ever, Washington, D.C.-based contest.
