Webinar | 03.26.24, 12:00 PM CET - 1:45 PM CET

Address

Virtual

In collaboration with the IBJ

In this webinar, we will start with a general overview of the AI Act, the first horizontal legislation worldwide to regulate the safety of AI-systems, before moving to a few focal points.

We will briefly discuss:

  • the scope of application of this new regulation, in particular the extra-territorial effect,
  • the key roles in the AI Act
  • the classification of the AI systems and the notion of general purpose AI models
  • the requirements for a safe AI system and the obligations for providers of such systems
  • enforcement, remedies and penalties at EU and national levels

We will then focus on the concrete obligations the AI Act entails for companies intending to use high risk or other AI systems in their organization or in relation to the public and the attention points for their contractual practice.

Finally, we will explore the interaction between the AI Act and the GDPR.

The Artificial Intelligence Agenda from Capitol Hill to State Capitals: Where We Are and Where We Are (Probably) Going

The landscape of AI governance and regulation is shifting. Following the release of the White House’s “America’s AI Action Plan” in July 2025 and the President’s signing of related Executive Orders, the White House has emphasized (at least rhetorically) a preference for innovation, adoption, and deregulation. State legislatures are also racing to implement their own regulations, particularly around AI’s use in critical areas, such as healthcare, labor and employment, and data privacy. The many sources of regulation raise the specter of a fragmented compliance environment for businesses. This webinar will delve into the Administration’s AI strategy, going beyond the headlines to analyze:...
