Entering a New Era of Pay Transparency in the EU – How to Ensure Compliance on Equal Pay

The EU Pay Transparency (970/2023) required Member States to transpose a wide array of legal provisions aimed at strengthening the principle of equal pay for equal work or for work of equal value.  When the deadline for transposition lapsed on June 7th, 2026, only a handful of Member States had effectively started to set up a compliant legal framework. Confronted with a legal vacuum in certain Member States and a patchwork of ideosyncratic rules in others, companies with operations in one or across multiple EU Member States may now well struggle to ensure compliance with their fundamental obligation as regards equal pay.  

This presentation will explain the legal framework of the Directive and offer practical guidance on the importance of insuring one’s hiring processes are gender-bias free and of setting up robust pay structures, based on objective and gender-neutral criteria.
