Discrimination in the Workplace 2022
Webinar | 02.08.22, 6:00 AM CST - 8:00 AM CST
In Collaboration with the IBJ
Reserving a vacancy for male candidates only, or refusing to promote a pregnant woman? Of course, your company would never do such a thing - that is discrimination! But what about only advertising a vacancy internally in your company, so that employees can look for new colleagues from within their own networks? Well-intentioned, but perhaps also a form of discrimination?
Discrimination in the workplace can be very subtle. Is your company aware of all the forms that discrimination can take – both direct and indirect? How can you make sure you are prepared for claims brought by employees or job applicants? What about gender, age, religion, origin, union affiliation, etc., and what about non-vaccinated employees (Covid-19)? What measures can your company take to avoid unequal treatment during the recruitment process, during employment, and on termination of an employment contract?
During this webinar, we will discuss the do's and don'ts in each of the three phases of the employment relationship and take a look at recent case law regarding discrimination issues.

The landscape of AI governance and regulation is shifting. Following the release of the White House’s “America’s AI Action Plan” in July 2025 and the President’s signing of related Executive Orders, the White House has emphasized (at least rhetorically) a preference for innovation, adoption, and deregulation. But that does not tell the entire story. The Administration remains committed to exercising a heavy hand in AI, including by banning the U.S. government’s procurement of so-called “woke AI,” intervening in the development of data centers and the export of the AI technology stack, imposing an export fee for certain semiconductors to China, and assuming a stake in a U.S. semiconductor company. State legislatures are also racing to implement their own regulations, particularly around AI’s use in critical areas, such as healthcare, labor and employment, and data privacy. The many sources of regulation raise the specter of a fragmented compliance environment for businesses. This webinar will delve into the Administration’s AI strategy, going beyond the headlines to analyze:
