Washington – January 18, 2018: Crowell & Moring LLP has been recognized as one of Washington's top philanthropic companies in 2017 in the Washington Business Journal's annual Corporate Philanthropy Awards. The firm ranked eighth among 25 area law firms for pro bono hours, with 30,877 hours contributed in 2016 by the firm's Washington, D.C., office. The firm provided counseling and handled high-impact litigation for pro bono clients on issues ranging from human trafficking and housing discrimination to voting rights and asylum. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Crowell & Moring has been honored by the regional news organization for its pro bono efforts.

WBJ's Corporate Philanthropy Awards honor the Washington region's most active and inspirational companies and nonprofits that have made a difference in their communities through financial and volunteer philanthropic work, charitable giving, volunteer hours, and pro bono work.

In addition to the pro bono ranking, Crowell & Moring was ranked ninth among 15 area law firms in the midsize companies – giving category, providing $483,374 in donations. The publication's editors ranked the honorees by metro-area cash donations and volunteer hours, based on companies' submitted data.

Crowell & Moring established the C&M Foundation in 1999 as a separate nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting organizations that focus on education as a way of breaking the cycle of poverty for low-income individuals and at-risk youth.

About Crowell & Moring's Pro Bono Practice

Crowell & Moring's pro bono practice includes a broad range of matters, particularly children's rights/family law, immigration, and criminal justice.
