Washington – July 26, 2019: The National Law Journal has named David (Dj) Wolff to its list of “2019 D.C. Rising Stars.” The award honors attorneys in the D.C. area who are “innovators, developing unique practice niches, amassing robust books of business, demonstrating strong leadership qualities, showing expertise in litigation or transactional work, and committing themselves to pro bono, charitable, and professional volunteer work.”
Wolff, a partner in the firm’s International Trade Group, focuses his practice on compliance with all aspects of U.S. economic sanctions, including counseling, training, and internal and government facing investigations for U.S. and non-U.S. clients. He is also a director within C&M International, the firm's trade policy affiliate, where he assists clients with international market access issues as well as in the development and advancement of initiatives through the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum.
The publication’s Rising Stars profile highlights that Wolff secured “the first public exemption granted to an NGO by the U.N. Security Council from its North Korea sanctions to enable an expansion of a program to treat multi-drug resistant tuberculosis [MDR-TB] in North Korea.” Wolff’s work in North Korea involves representing the Eugene Bell Foundation, a U.S.-and South Korean-based entity that has served as the largest provider of MDR-TB diagnosis and treatment in North Korea for years. Wolff represents the foundation on a pro bono basis and serves as the foundation’s interlocutor to the U.S. government and to the United Nations.
“I am honored to be included among the list of Washington D.C.’s rising stars, an intimidating list of peers who have carved out leading roles in practices from across the legal spectrum,” Wolff said.
