OCCDL Recognizes Crowell & Moring Lawyers at 2025 Awards Gala

Orange County – September 30, 2025: The Orange County Coalition for Diversity in the Law honored Crowell & Moring, as well as partner Daniel Sasse, counsel Charlene Sun, and associate Melissa Nguyen, at its 2025 Awards Gala. The awards were presented at The Westin South Coast Plaza on September 9.

The firm was honored with The Axis Award recognizing the firm’s commitment to advancement, growth, and core values. Sasse was recognized with the Bridgebuilder Award, acknowledging his efforts in uniting communities and facilitating collaboration. Nguyen and Sun were selected for the Top Young Lawyers Award, highlighting their exceptional contributions and dedication to advancing the Orange County legal community through outstanding pro bono work, community service, and leadership.

Sasse, Sun, and Nguyen are based in Crowell’s Orange County office and are members of the firm’s Antitrust and Competition Group, which Sasse also co-chairs.

Sasse has devoted a substantial portion of his practice to antitrust cartel litigation on both sides of the “v.” His practice includes defending clients in criminal investigations and civil litigation as well as representing many Fortune 500 companies as plaintiffs in recovery actions when they have been the victim of price-fixing cartels. He has helped clients recover more than $5 billion in recent years.

Sun’s practice involves counseling clients across several industries on a wide range of antitrust, transactional, and litigation matters. She has provided strategic counsel with identifying and coordinating foreign merger control filings, compliance with the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, and evaluating and advising on competitive issues associated with mergers, acquisitions, and competitor collaborations.

Nguyen’s practice primarily focuses on antitrust investigations and civil litigation. She represents corporate clients across a broad range of industries, including transportation, healthcare, technology, and telecommunications in complex antitrust litigation under both state and federal antitrust laws.
