Chicago – April 23, 2024: Laura Lydigsen, co-chair of Crowell & Moring’s Intellectual Property Department, and Jason Stiehl, managing partner of the firm’s Chicago office, have been named to Crain’s Chicago Business’ 2025 list of Notable Litigators & Trial Attorneys. The list features 92 attorneys shaping Chicago's legal landscape from high-stakes litigation to precedent-setting appellate rulings.
As co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, Lydigsen oversees 127 attorneys across the U.S. and Europe. Her practice focuses on patent litigation before federal courts. She also manages attorney recruitment, professional development, and strategic business initiatives. Crain’s noted her recent victories, including helping a pharmaceutical client obtain clearance to sell the antidepressant drug vortioxetine, securing a Federal Circuit ruling of non-infringement, as well as a $3.2 million attorney fee award in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York for a lab-grown diamond distributor. Lydigsen serves on the Federal Circuit Bar Association’s board of directors and previously was on the board of Chicago’s Linn Inn of Court.
Stiehl leads Crowell’s Chicago litigation team, focusing on consumer class actions and restrictive covenant cases for brands in the retail, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and medical equipment, advertising, and technology sector. Crain’s highlighted that he secured dismissal of three major consumer fraud class actions, including a precedent-setting victory for Aldi, where he argued a refund policy could limit retailer liability under Illinois law. He is also active in the Chicago community, serving on the boards of the Chicago chapter of Friends of the Children and the Greater Chicago Legal Clinic.
Crowell’s Chicago office opened when the firm combined with 100-year-old Chicago intellectual property firm Brinks Gilson & Lione in 2021.
