Washington, D.C. – May 10, 2005: Crowell & Moring LLP associate Jenny Kim has been appointed as 2005-06 ABA Young Lawyers Division (YLD) liaison to the Standing Committee on Election Law, a senior appointment within YLD. As liaison, Jenny will represent YLD before the Standing Committee on Election Law.
The Committee was created in 1973 with the purpose of developing and examining ways to improve the federal electoral process. In 1979, a ten-member Advisory Commission was created consisting of representatives of Congress, the President of the League of Women Voters, the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman of the Federal Election Commission (FEC), election law attorneys, and academics. The Standing Committee and its Advisory Commission are nationally recognized election law experts who are charged with representing the Association’s commitment to ensure that the nation’s election laws are legally sound and are drafted to permit the broadest, least restrictive access by Americans to the ballot box.
Jenny is a member of the Firm’s Government Contracts Group where she has a broad based practice focusing on government ethics, strategic counseling, and government contracts. Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Jenny served as a United States Presidential Management Fellow and worked in the White House and the Missile Defense Agency. As an ethics advisor in the Office of Counsel to the President at the White House, she served as a de facto special assistant to an associate counsel to the president. She counseled senior White House officials and employees regarding criminal conflict of interest statutes, Executive Branch Standards of Ethical Conduct regulations, financial disclosure requirements, travel related issues, and other matters that required a legal and public relations strategy. At the Missile Defense Agency, she participated in the development of internal guidance memoranda and a study to recommend export control changes to facilitate international missile defense cooperation as well as evaluating provisos to export license applications.
