Washington, DC – April 1, 2011: Crowell & Moring LLP Government Contracts Group partner Terry L. Albertson has been awarded the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Procurement Division's Howard H. Cork Memorial Award for 2011. This award, which was presented to Albertson at the annual NDIA Educational Symposium meeting on March 28 in Williamsburg, VA, has been given annually since 1967 to a procurement division member who has devoted extensive time and energy for the general good of the association, the defense industry, and government. Candidates for the award also must have stature in the defense community, as well as the respect of their government and non-government associates.
Albertson's practice focuses on issues related to government contract cost, accounting, pricing, and termination issues. He represents contractors regularly at the various Boards of Contract Appeals and the Court of Federal Claims. He has tried a number of important cases concerning defective pricing, the Cost Accounting Standards, the allowability of costs, multiple award contracts, and terminations. He counsels contractors and participates in internal reviews and litigation about allegations of fraud, and has been involved in planning significant corporate mergers, divestitures, and reorganizations. Additionally, he served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971 and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam.
While at the Educational Symposium, "Managing in a Tumultuous Acquisition Environment – What Happens Next?" Albertson served on the panel for, "DCAA: Changes & Challenges," providing insight from the legal side of Government Contracts.
