Federal Judges Honor Crowell & Moring LLP For Outstanding Pro Bono Service

Firm Honored for "40 at 50" Benchmark

Washington, D.C. – May, 24 2007: For the third consecutive year, Crowell & Moring LLP was honored by the Chief Judges of the District of Columbia Circuit for its commitment to pro bono work. The firm was honored for meeting the benchmark of having 40 percent of its attorneys personally provide 50 or more hours of pro bono service in 2006. The "40 at 50: Judicial Pro Bono Recognition Breakfast" was held April 26, 2007 at 8 a.m. at the E. Barrett Prettyman United States Courthouse, and is sponsored by the D.C. Circuit Judicial Conference Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services. Former Crowell & Moring partner, Judge Rosemary M. Collyer, was the judicial representative on the Standing Committee.

First held in 2003, "The 40 at 50: Judicial Pro Bono Recognition Breakfast" aims to encourage increased pro bono activity by attorneys in the District of Columbia Circuit, acknowledge firms that have made strides to reach the 50-hour standard, and publicize the increase in the ethical standard, which was adopted by District of Columbia Circuit Judicial Conference Resolution in 1998, from 40 hours per attorney to 50 hours per attorney.

Out of more than 125 Washington, D.C. law firms that were surveyed, Crowell & Moring was one of the 17 firms that qualified for the honor. Only Washington law firm offices consisting of 25 or more attorneys were eligible.
