Washington, D.C. – June 1, 2023: Seramount, formerly Working Mother Media, has named Crowell & Moring one of the “Best Law Firms for Women” for the 12th year in a row. The firm is ranked among 50 firms across the nation for its best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers and lawyers from underrepresented groups. In addition, the firm’s ongoing achievements earned it a spot in Seramount’s Hall of Fame.

“We are honored to be recognized once again for our ongoing commitment to building and retaining a diverse and equitable community, where our women and diverse attorneys can thrive,” said Don Smith, the firm’s Chief Talent & Inclusion Officer. “That said, we can always improve and will continue to actively recruit, retain, and provide support and meaningful development opportunities to help advance our women lawyers.”

“I’m proud to expand our Best Law Firms for Women to include diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts,” said Subha V. Barry, President of Seramount. “From increasing representation of historically excluded talent to expanding upon their family-friendly benefits, our Best Law Firms are putting in the work necessary to build firm cultures where employees can thrive.”

Crowell has a long history of women in leadership. In 1995, the firm became the first major D.C.-based law firm to elect a female chair, Rosemary Collyer, who later became a judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The firm’s current management board includes Ellen Moran Dwyer, past-chair of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, a collective of more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners, working to build a more open and diverse legal profession; Trina Fairley Barlow, co-chair of the firm’s Labor and Employment Group; Jennifer Grady, co-chair of the Corporate Group; Kirsten L. Nathanson, co-chair of the firm's Environment & Natural Resources Group; Jennifer Romano, co-chair of the firm's Litigation Group; and Chahira Solh, chair of the firm’s executive committee. In addition, Crowell’s Women’s Leadership Initiative – a network for all of the firm’s women lawyers – provides a number of opportunities for education and allyship engagement across the firm.
