Crowell & Moring White Collar Chair Daniel Zelenko Named a New York Law Journal 'Distinguished Leader'

New York – November 3, 2017: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that partner Daniel L. Zelenko, chair of Crowell & Moring’s nationally recognized White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group, has been named to the New York Law Journal’s list of “Distinguished Leaders.” The list recognizes 22 New York-based lawyers in leadership roles who have achieved impressive results in the past year, as selected by the publication’s editors.
A former federal prosecutor and senior enforcement lawyer at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Zelenko told the New York Law Journal he is proud to be part of a dynamic white-collar team at Crowell & Moring that has achieved many successes and seen notable growth, including the addition last month of partner Rebecca Ricigliano, the former First Assistant Attorney General of New Jersey. One noteworthy victory came when Zelenko and the team recently helped persuade the SEC to drop a major securities fraud investigation of a client who was facing potentially career-ending legal jeopardy.
Zelenko credited the role of mentors early in his career, and has carried those lessons forward as a leader. “To me, leadership is about creating opportunities for other lawyers on the team. That can happen in a number of different ways but it requires a real commitment,” Zelenko told the NYLJ. “I try to support our more junior lawyers by giving them increased responsibility on our cases, by encouraging them to get out there and see clients, and by helping them learn to develop some of their own business at an earlier stage of their careers. And of course, leadership is also by example, which is something I never take lightly.”
