Crowell & Moring Summer Associate Program Ranks Among Top Three In The Nation

Washington, D.C. - October 9, 2008: Crowell & Moring LLP has ranked third out of the country's top 190 law firms in the American Lawyer  "Summer Associate Survey." The American Lawyer reported that Crowell & Moring's third-place finish "caps a meteoric rise" up the charts over the past two years. Between 2006 and 2008, the firm rose 130 places in the rankings.

Driven by anonymous evaluations from 11,000 summer associates at 190 law firms nationwide, the 2008 American Lawyer survey ranks firms according to summer associate satisfaction in nine key areas, including the interest level of the work, training and guidance, interactions with partners and full-time associates, how well the firm communicated its goals, and how it rated overall as a place to work.

In an interview with the magazine, summer program co-chair and Crowell & Moring partner Jeffrey L. Poston attributed the success to, among other things, surveying summers before they get to the firm to find out their interests and providing them with challenging, complex work assignments.

In the American Lawyer report, an anonymous Crowell & Moring summer associate commented about the amount of interaction he had with partners. "All of them took the time to learn my name and went out of their way to answer my questions," he said.
