Crowell & Moring's Intellectual Property Partner to Speak at Upcoming AIPLA Advanced Patent Prosecution Training Seminar

Washington, D.C. – March 26, 2003: James McKeown, a partner with Crowell & Moring's Intellectual Property Group, will be speaking at the AIPLA Advanced Patent Prosecution Training Seminar in Minneapolis, MN at the Doubletree Park Place Hotel on June 12, 2003. The one-day limited seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of nuances of IP practices, and new strategies for meeting today's IP challenges. The seminar is geared toward advancing your knowledge and changing the way you practice patent law.
Jim will open the seminar with a discussion of "Post-Issuance Practice: Reissue and Reexamination," and will address recent developments in reissue law and the new optional inter partes reexamination procedure as well as the limitations connected with these procedures.
The conference will also address national and international aspects of patent prosecution including the impact of recent Federal Circuit decisions on crafting and prosecuting patent applications and EPO oppositions.
Jim worked as a Patent Examiner in the U.S. Patent Office from 1966 through 1969, and has practiced law in Washington, D.C. since 1969, concentrating in intellectual property law and related trade matters. He has extensive experience in the litigation of intellectual property and other matters before federal agencies, including the International Trade Commission, and in the federal courts, has authored articles in the field of intellectual property law and was a contributing author of Federal Circuit Patent Law Decisions published by the Federal Litigation Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
