Los Angeles – February 1, 2019: Crowell & Moring’s Emily Kuwahara, a partner in the firm’s Litigation Group, has been named among the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Most Influential Minority Attorneys in Los Angeles.”

Profiles of 50 honorees from across the Los Angeles region were published in the January 28, 2019 issue, as selected by the publication’s editors. In Kuwahara’s feature, the Los Angeles Business Journal notes Kuwahara’s representation of clients in complex disputes “resulting in satisfied clients and the recovery of hundreds of millions of dollars.” Most notably, she secured $32 million for The Regents of the University of California in a dispute with Medivation, Inc. relating to the licensing of compounds to treat prostate cancer. The publication also highlights her recent recognition among the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s “2018 Best Lawyers Under 40.”

Kuwahara’s legal practice focuses on broad-based litigation, including breach of contract actions, business torts, consumer class actions, unfair competition law, and other complex business disputes at both the trial and appellate court levels. She has also represented clients in criminal antitrust matters and grand jury investigations, particularly in Japan. Kuwahara currently serves as vice president of the Japanese American Bar Association.
