Group recognized in Washington, D.C., California, and New York
Washington – March 21, 2018: Crowell & Moring LLP's Antitrust Group has again been recognized as "highly recommended" in Global Competition Review's (GCR) 18th edition of the "GCR 100" – the leading ranking of the world’s top competition practices, lawyers, and economists. This marks the third year in a row in which the firm’s Antitrust Group received this distinction in the Washington, D.C., California, and New York categories. The firm’s antitrust capabilities have been recognized in the GCR 100 since 2007.
In the firm’s Washington profile, the GCR editors note that competing firms admire Crowell & Moring’s client list and the Antitrust Group “has expanded and diversified while retaining long-standing customers.” In describing the group’s work, GCR highlights that Crowell & Moring is guiding AT&T in the US$85 billion acquisition of media company Time Warner; acted for Humana in its proposed US$37 billion sale to Aetna; and represents clients such as United Airlines, CSX Transportation, and Blue Cross Blue Shield in non-merger litigation.
In the firm’s California profile, GCR reports that the group is defending KOA Speer Electronics against a pending class action. GCR also notes, “the practice continues to move associates through the ranks to counsel at a good clip.”
In its New York category report, GCR highlights the office’s competition work in merger, investigations, and civil litigation services. The feature notes, “The firm was involved in some of the major antitrust matters of the past year” and reports that Crowell & Moring counselled AT&T in a DOJ civil antitrust investigation stemming from subsidiary DIRECTV’s negotiations regarding the rights to carry the Spectrum SportsNet LA Dodgers Channel; and counselled TransCanada in its US$13 billion purchase of the Columbia Pipeline Group – its largest acquisition ever.
