Washington, D.C. – October 12, 2015: Crowell & Moring is pleased to announce that its White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group has been recognized among Global Investigations Review's "GIR 100," noting the firm's victory on behalf of DuPont in a trade-secret dispute that encompassed numerous criminal and civil proceedings spanning two continents.
The article highlights firm attorneys' experiences as former government officials, noting Washington, D.C.-based White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Group chair Thomas A. Hanusik, "is a 12-year veteran of the SEC and the DoJ who served as assistant chief of the Criminal Division's fraud section and was one of the original prosecutors on the task force that investigated accounting fraud at American energy company Enron. Daniel Zelenko, a partner in the firm's New York office, also served at both agencies: as a federal prosecutor in the DoJ's antitrust division, and a senior enforcement attorney for the SEC."
The article goes on to highlight other stars including, "Janet Levine, who chairs the firm's trial practice, and Philip Inglima, a former counsel for the U.S. Office of Independent Counsel. As counsel for Lindsey Manufacturing's chief financial officer, Levine delivered a crushing blow to U.S. prosecutors when she was able to obtain a dismissal with prejudice of FCPA-related charges against her client."
According to the article, "Given the depth of Crowell & Moring's experience in cross-border investigations, it's perhaps no surprise that the firm has accrued a long list of impressive achievements ... More recently, the firm has fought a trade-secret dispute on behalf of DuPont. The U.S. chemical company sued Kolon Industries in 2009, alleging that the South Korean company obtained proprietary information regarding the company's Kevlar fibre from former employees. Crowell & Moring's work for the company involved numerous civil and criminal proceedings across two continents and resulted in a criminal investigation of Kolon by the DoJ. In April, Kolon admitted to conspiring to steal trade secrets from DuPont, and was sentenced to pay a US$85 million criminal penalty and $275 million in restitution."
