Crowell & Moring Named Finalist in Global Competition Review's Fourth Annual "GCR Awards"

Washington, D.C. – April 8, 2014: Global Competition Review (GCR), considered to be the leading international journal of competition policy and regulation, selected two matters handled by Crowell & Moring LLP as finalists for the fourth annual "GCR Awards." Specifically the matters include, Aetna Inc.'s acquisition of Coventry Health Care, Inc., which was named as one of five finalists in the "Team Awards: Merger Control Matter of the Year – Americas" category. Crowell & Moring served as U.S. antitrust counsel to Coventry Health Care, Inc. in this deal. In addition, the Freight Fuel Surcharge Antitrust Litigation before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia was selected as one of six finalists in the "Team Awards: Litigation of the Year" category. Crowell & Moring serves as lead trial counsel to CSX Transportation, Inc. in this matter.
The "GCR Awards" were presented during the annual dinner held in the events honor at the W Hotel in Washington, D.C. on March 25. According to Global Competition Review, the "GCR Awards" aim to recognize the achievements of teams and individuals from private practice firms, corporate legal departments, economic consultancies, academic organizations, and competition authorities in 2013. Finalists were initially compiled by a GCR editorial team at the publication and winners were selected through online voting.
Also of note, Crowell & Moring's Antitrust Group continues to be recognized as "Highly Recommended" in the annual "GCR 100: The World's Leading Competition Practices," in the categories of "United States: Government Antitrust" and "United States: New York."
