Crowell & Moring Honored by the D.C. Circuit Judicial Conference Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services

Washington, D.C. – April 9, 2013: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce that the firm was among 28 local firms in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area honored by The D.C. Circuit Judicial Conference Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services for having 40 percent of its lawyers perform a minimum of 50 hours of pro bono service in 2012. At Crowell & Moring, more than 50 percent of the firm's attorneys met the 50-hour benchmark.

The firm was recognized during the 10th annual "40 at 50" Judicial Pro Bono Recognition breakfast on April 9, 2013, at the E. Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse, where Chief Judge Merrick Garland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit commended the firms for their commitment to pro bono work.

In his remarks, Chief Judge Garland noted, "With government service agencies facing budget cuts, law firms like yours will be needed to fill the gaps."

The Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services spearheads and manages pro bono initiatives within the D.C. Circuit. The Committee members are responsible for reviewing and reporting to the Judicial Conference on issues facing pro se litigants in the federal court system. The Committee works cooperatively with organizations in the D.C. Bar to meet the legal needs of the community through programs and increased pro bono work.
