Crowell & Moring Elects Seven New Partners And Promotes 16 Attorneys To Counsel And Senior Counsel Positions

Washington, D.C. – January 4, 2008: Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce it has elected seven attorneys to the firm’s partnership effective January 1, 2008. It has also promoted two counsel to the position of senior counsel and 14 associates to the position of counsel. The new partners and counsel have been promoted from within the ranks of the firm’s Washington, D.C., Brussels, and Irvine, CA. offices.

The new partners are:
- Daniel T. Campbell is a member of the firm's Torts Group and a resident in the Washington, D.C. office. He primarily represents corporations and organizations faced with product liability and various tort actions throughout the United States. In this capacity, he serves as national coordinating counsel and trial counsel for Fortune 500 companies on product liability, premises liability, railroad, and other tort issues. He also handles class action, complex commercial litigation and arbitration matters, and practices in the area of aviation litigation.
- J. Chris Haile is a member of the firm's Government Contracts Group and a resident in the Washington, D.C. office. With extensive experience in government procurement law, Haile litigates disputes and counsels clients in a broad range of government contract matters, with particular emphasis on the resolution of contract disputes. He has represented clients in matters involving the government’s breach of contract, claims for contract changes, termination for default, termination for convenience, Truth in Negotiations Act compliance and defective pricing, commercial-item procurement, contract negotiations, and bid protests. He also represents clients in other related matters, such as investigations and audits by government agencies or inspectors general, False Claims Act /qui tam relator suits, and participation in the DoD voluntary disclosure program. He represents clients from many different industries, including aerospace, defense, health care, construction, telecommunications, information technology, and professional services.
- Michael H. Jacobs is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Group and a resident in the Washington, D.C. office. He specializes in patent, trademark, and copyright infringement litigation, patent interferences, intellectual property portfolio management, patent procurement, counseling, and licensing. He has litigated patent disputes before district courts throughout the United States, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, and the U.S. International Trade Commission. In particular, he has extensive experience with patent interferences, managing all aspects of these cases from the pre-declaration stage through final judgment, including motions, discovery, and oral argument before the Board. His counseling work has involved assisting both large and small clients with the creation and implementation of intellectual property protection and procurement programs, as well as in evaluating infringement and validity issues for patentees and third parties.
- J. Catherine Kunz is a member of the firm's Government Contracts Group and a resident in the Washington, D.C. office. Her practice involves both counseling and litigating on behalf of clients in a range of government contract law areas, including federal supply schedule contracting, contract claims and disputes, fraud and abuse, purchasing and subcontracting, cost accounting issues, and federal health care contracting. She also represents clients in qui tam actions under the False Claims Act and in bid protests, and counsels clients on procurement ethics, compliance programs, contract administration, government audits, and specialized procurement matters, including Randolph-Sheppard Act procurements and National Park Service concession contracts.
- Shari Ross Lahlou is a member of the firm's Antitrust and Litigation Groups and a resident in the Washington, D.C. office. Her practice focuses primarily on antitrust and other complex litigation, including class actions and multidistrict proceedings. She has successfully litigated cases at the trial and appellate levels in several federal and state courts nationwide, and has participated in a number of bench and jury trials. She has particular expertise in defending clients in antitrust cartel cases, and has also, among others, defended and prosecuted monopolization claims, defended tying and patent infringement claims, and defended and prosecuted claims related to major commercial contract disputes. In addition, she has represented victims of terrorism in pursuing claims against state sponsors of terrorism pursuant to the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.
- Kirsten L. Nathanson is a member of the firm's Environment & Natural Resources Group and a resident in the Washington, D.C. office. Her practice primarily involves litigation and regulatory counseling under all major federal environmental and public lands statutes, with particular focus on the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, National Environmental Protection Act, Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act, and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, Liability, and Recovery Act (CERCLA). She has represented national trade associations and individual regulated entities in nationwide regulatory challenges, Administrative Procedure Act litigation, EPA civil and criminal enforcement actions, CERCLA cost recovery actions, and citizen suit litigation.
- Amanda Paracuellos is a member of the firm's Corporate Group and a resident in the Irvine, CA office. Her practice focuses on transactional work spanning the corporate and intellectual property practice areas. She has represented clients, from start-ups to large, publicly held companies, in a wide variety of corporate transactional matters including acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, securities offerings, private equity financings, corporate restructurings, corporate governance and takeover defense.
Firm counsel promoted to the position of senior counsel are Linda S. Bruggeman ( Washington, D.C.) and Kathryn A. Underhill ( Washington, D.C.). Firm associates promoted to counsel are: David D.
