Washington – June 26, 2025: Crowell & Moring partner Sadina Montani was sworn-in today as the 54th president of the D.C. Bar. In this role, Sadina will be responsible for guiding the largest unified bar in the United States, with more than 120,000 members in all 50 states and more than 80 countries.

As a first-generation lawyer and college student Sadina is passionate about mentoring motivated young legal talent, particularly during times of rapid technological disruption. As D.C. Bar president, she hopes to drive important conversations about the legal community’s commitment to ethics, competence, and mentorship as lawyers across the world wrestle with how to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies responsibly into the practice of law.

“Rapid technological advancement and evolving professional expectations have created both unprecedented challenges and exciting new opportunities for the entire legal community. Whether it’s modernizing the legal apprenticeship model, ethically and practically integrating AI technology into the profession or protecting the ethical standards of the legal community, I believe that the D.C. Bar is uniquely positioned to convene these critical and necessary conversations,” said Sadina Montani. “Many years ago, the D.C. Bar community welcomed me in and has support and encouraged me throughout my career. I view it as my job to ensure this community remains an open, inclusive, and merit-based community for those just starting their legal careers.”

Prior to serving as president, Sadina has served the D.C. Bar in several capacities, including as the Nominations Committee Chair, a member of the Screening and Leadership Development Committees, as president-elect (2024-2025), and as a member of the executive, budget, and finance committees of the D.C. Bar Board of Governors. She was also part of the D.C. Bar’s Inaugural Class of the John Payton Leadership Academy in 2013 and is the first graduate of the program to serve as D.C. Bar President.

Sadina’s past bar leadership also includes long-time service on the Board of Directors for the Women’s Bar Association of D.C. (WBA). Sadina served as WBA President for the 2020-2021 Bar year, during the height of the pandemic. She also served as the Chief Governance Officer on the board of directors for Ayuda, a legal, social, and language services provider.

At Crowell, Sadina is a partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment Group, where she serves a trusted adviser for employers facing complex compliance and litigation matters. Her practice focused on counseling corporations, think tanks, higher education institutions, and nonprofits with employment-related issues, including sensitive investigations and litigation matters. Sadina previously served as co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative, as a member of Crowell’s Technology Innovation Committee, and the steering committee of Crowell’s Labor & Employment Group.

Sadina earned her J.D. and M.A. from The George Washington University. She also earned her Bachelor of Music from Western Michigan University.
